- I'm 26 and currently I'm a Retained Fire fighter in Essex and have been in the job since since Oct 2006. My dream job is to be a fulltime/wholetime Fire fighter and luckily after 2 years of going through process and being knocked back a few time I have been given the chance by Hampshire fire service. My course starts 15th April 2009 and will last 14 weeks at Fire Service headquarters Eastliegh and I intend to let all of those who are interested what happens on a day-day basis.
